Description
Jarett Metheny has been the Fire Chief for the Ozark (MO) Fire Protection District since 2020. With a fire service career spanning over three decades, he began his journey in 1993 in the Oklahoma fire service, rising through the ranks to Fire Chief with the Midwest City (OK) Fire Department. He holds the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) credential from the Center for Public Safety Excellence. He graduated from the Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program at the National Fire Academy. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology and a Master’s degree in Fire and Emergency Management Administration, both from Oklahoma State University.
Beyond his role as Fire Chief, Metheny is dedicated to shaping the future of public safety leadership through education. He serves as an adjunct faculty member in fire science program and the public safety programs. He serves on many professional and civic organizations, including the Christian County Emergency Services Board.
Chief Metheny is actively engaged in advancing fire service training and leadership. He has served on the Chief Officer committee for the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA). He is an instructor for the Fire Service Leadership Enhancement Program through Missouri University.
He lives in Ozark with his wife, Angie. They have grown children and one granddaughter. They enjoy spending time with family and exploring the beautiful Ozarks.
